In 2019, former Planet Fitness Black Card Member Matt Werner created one of the most successful sports blogs the world has ever seen.

FishTankSports changed the blogging game forever.

The daily traffic was unprecedented (S/o Grandma and Grandpa), the content was top notch (who doesn’t love Notre Dame lacrosse articles?), and our podcast, Inside the Tank, was soaring to the top of the charts right next to Pardon My Take and Joe Rogan.

However, when COVID-19 took the world by storm in 2020, our sports blog took a significant hit. There simply wasn’t anything to write about. As a newer blog, we were faced with a tough decision. Scrape by and keep on churning out content, or call it quits.

We elected for the latter. FishTankSports was nothing more than a side hobby for us and the idea of writing about things we don’t necessarily care about seemed more like a chore than anything.

We stopped producing content in April of 2020.

What is FTS Sports Now?

The FishTankSports of three years ago is no longer. Moving forward FTS Sports (FishTankSports Sports) is a one man show. All content will be written and produce by me.

I’ve missed writing dearly. Truth be told, I’m not very good at it. I’m not sure if I could pass a middle school language arts class at this point in my life. However, it has always been a very calming and mentally stimulating practice for me.

The intention is to produce 2-3 articles a week focused on College and NFL sports betting. If there is one thing that I enjoy as much as football, it’s losing money while watching it. I hope to produce a weekly article highlighting the Saturday and Sunday slate with maybe a Thursday or Monday night football solo article depending on the week.

I’ll likely miss some articles from time to time. I’ve got two kids, a job that requires travel, and truthfully there are some weeks I simply won’t feel like writing.

I’m not writing with any grand illusions that I make it as a professional sports blogger or analyst. This is simply a hobby of mine that I want to reengage in.

Why Should You Read?

You shouldn’t.

There are THOUSANDS of folks that dedicate their life to analyzing each and every aspect of football and provide tremendous knowledge that I’ll never be able to produce.

I want to strongly reiterate that this blog and these articles are not written as a way to get noticed or build a portfolio. I simply enjoy writing and want to share my thoughts. My hope is that some people enjoy my articles enough to come back and read again.

With that, I’m excited to get started. Be on the lookout for the first article on Friday highlighting the Week 1 slate.
