Not the greatest weekend last week, but we ended in the green so that’s all that matters.
LSU continues to be an absolute lock for the Over (when Jayden Daniels plays) while Ohio State finally hit the over.
I can blame the rust with last week being my first blog in years, but now is the time to lock in.
Last week’s picks: 3-2 (Kansas ML, OK State +5.5, LSU/Bama O61.5 – OSU/Rut U42.5, ND -3)
Michigan -4.5 @ Penn State – O/U 45.5
Nothing has been going on at Michigan, so should be a normal road game for them.. if you ask the people at Michigan.
Listen we all know they cheated. Did it create a HUGE advantage? Probably not that HUGE, but they cheated. Harbaugh knew, Corum and his LLC knew, and Stalions was the king of Ann Arbor like he always wanted.
Michigan is turning full heel on the CFB world. They brought in Ric Flair (who sucks btw, just watch his appearance on Kill Tony), they have state reps involved, Harbaugh knows nothing, and some clown named Santa is defending him till the end.
I feel like everyone’s natural reaction to this is: “It’s Michigan v. Everybody, they’re going to tear the Nittany Lions apart”, but I tend to believe that it is difficult for a bunch of 19-24 (45 if you are Sam Hartman or Bo Nix) year olds can just drown out the noise & not affect them in their preparation/performance.
Not to mention that this is Michigan’s first challenge of the season after victories over IU East, Bishop Sycamore, and Rutgers.
On the other hand, Penn State has faced some challenges already such as the #1 team in the CFP.
How did they look in that challenge? Not great. Allar looked awful & they lost 20-12
As an Ohio State fan.. this pains me to say this.. but there was one HUGE play that could’ve swung that game in their favor. McCord was bailed out by a penalty that nixed a huge fumble recovery.
What ifs are everywhere in sports, so the fact is they lost, but have recovered since then with a domination of Maryland last week.
This game is James Franklin’s chance to change his trajectory in CFB history.
He can either be the coach who will never win the big games or he can be one Ohio State loss away from a Big Ten Championship & CFP appearance.
Enough talking.
The Pick: Penn State ML +176
Utah @ Washington -9.5 – O/U 51.5
Normally I would just hammer the over in a Washington game, but Utah lost me when they played Oregon. In that game, it was 7 points away from the over heading into the 4th Quarter and it still didn’t hit.
Scar tissue.
I don’t know what to think of Utah. They beat USC (who hasn’t) and then just embarrass themselves against Oregon. But then just dog walk Arizona State.
There is just something PULLING me to Utah +9.5 and I can’t explain it.
I think it is the fact that I believe Oregon is the best Pac 12 team & will find their way in the playoffs.
I think it is also that Washington hates covering the spread as they are 1-4 ATS in the last 5.
Call this a gut pick. This is why Vegas always wins
The Pick: Utah +9.5
Michigan State @ Ohio State -31.5 – O/U 47.5
I have been religiously betting the unders in Ohio State games this year.
The defense is dominant and the offense just isn’t clicking like years past. But the Buckeyes decided to shut me up by allowing more points this week & scoring more than normal to hit the over.
Now what the Buckeyes didn’t do was shut me up on my first half worries offensively. They were down & had only scored 7 points.
The Buckeyes have only scored more than 26 points in the first half twice this season against… Western Kentucky and Youngstown State. They have not done it against Big Ten opponents or Notre Dame
I fully expect the Buckeyes to shutout Michigan State in the first half & potentially the full game.
Prove me wrong, 1st half McCord. Until then..
The Pick: 1H U26.5
Rapid Fire Picks
Ole Miss @ Georgia -10.5: Georgia -10.5
USC @ Oregon -14.5: Oregon -14.5 & O73.5 (as agreed to on the podcast with Matt)
Bama -10.5 @ Kentucky: Bama -10.5
